Detailed information about local restaurants, shops, beaches, museums, etc. is available at the house.
There are plenty of beaches along the south coast. We highly recommend Cacela Velha, Fabrica, Lota, Barril, Tavira island, Pedras del Rei and Culatra island (next to Olhão).
All the beaches in the eastern Algarve are more or less islands, with marshland (nature reserve) between the shore and the beach. To get to most of them, one has to take a fisherman’s boat or a ferry, which costs 1 euro per person. Because of these marshes – the ‘Ria Formosa’ – there is relatively little beach tourism in this part of the Algarve (i.e. between Faro and Cacela). The cliffs and the wild ocean along the west coast between Sagres and the village of Aljezur are also worth seeing.
Cultural information about the towns/villages of Tavira, Faro, Olhão, Loulé, Silves, Castro Marim, Vila Real de Santo António, Cachopo, Alcoutim and their surroundings can be obtained from their websites.
There’s plenty happening – festivals, music, markets and more!
